Roy Scheider. Star of my favorite movie musical of all time. And Jaws, of course. But his portrayal in All That Jazz as basically Bob Fosse himself (with a different name) was so great, so memorable. And now of course it will be strange when he sings "Bye Bye Life" about being dead. But it was always strange, as he was portraying Bob Fosse, who was dead by the time I saw the film for the first time. The thing is, there are just a few people in showbiz that affect you in a profound level, even if for just a single performance, and for me, Roy Scheider's Joe Gideon is one of those. So if you haven't seen it, I cannot recommend All That Jazz enough. And if you have, it might be time to watch it again.
